
The Youth Leadership Foundation operates two programs for DC's youth: the Tenley Achievement Program (TAP) for boys, and the Program for Academic and Leadership Skills (PALS) for girls.
Both programs were founded on YLF's Four Pillars of Success:
- Character Development
- Personal Mentoring
- Academic Enrichment
- Parental Involvement
TAP and PALS operate two programs throughout the year: the (on Saturday mornings, September through May) and the Summer Program (Monday through Friday, July and August). For details on dates & times,

Elementary School One-on-One Program
Grades 3 through 6
The ES program focuses on individual tutoring, goal-setting, and character lessons that establish a solid foundation during these developmental years.
Middle School Achievement Program
Grades 7 and 8
The MS program prepares students for high school by aiding them in the HS application process and by emphasizing greater personal responsibility at home, in the classroom, and among their peers.
High School Orientation Program
Grade 9 through 10
This one-of-a-kind program prepares students for college while paving the path towards a successful career. DC-area professionals offer guidance and tutoring while providing internship opportunities down the road!
All three levels also include the following activities:
- Parent Seminars & Parent Groups
- Sports (TAP) & the Visual and Performing Arts (PALS)
- Field Trips in the DC Metro Area
- Special Guest Speakers
- Character Counts Awards!
